Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The BJP organized a workshop under the Ambedkar Samman Abhiyan in Lucknow, where Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present as the chief guest. The event was aimed at paying tribute to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and recognizing his contributions to Indian society, especially towards the upliftment of Dalits and the marginalized.
Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi lauded Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s efforts in securing constitutional rights for the oppressed and deprived. He also used the occasion to strongly criticize the opposition parties, particularly the Trinamool Congress (TMC), for their alleged inaction and silence over the ongoing violence in West Bengal.
Yogi Adityanath pointed fingers at the Mamata Banerjee-led government in Bengal, claiming that Hindus, particularly Dalit and deprived communities, were being targeted in the wake of protests over the Waqf Act. “Three Hindus have been brutally murdered in Bengal. They were dragged out of their homes and killed. The opposition does not want peace but wants to polarize the situation for political gain,” he said.
He further questioned the motives behind the opposition’s response to the Waqf law protests, asserting that lakhs of acres of land have been wrongly claimed in the name of Waqf. “This is not about faith but about land grab and exploitation. The opposition is instigating violence through false propaganda to stop rightful distribution,” Yogi said.
Referring to the ongoing unrest in Bengal, he mentioned that the protests have taken a violent turn in districts like Murshidabad, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, and Malda. Shops and houses have been looted and vandalized, and several vehicles were torched. According to reports, 3–4 people have died and hundreds have been injured in the violence that erupted on Friday.
Yogi also accused the Congress, SP, and TMC of insulting national heroes and suppressing the voices of the marginalized. He called their mentality “corrupt” and said that their politics is fueled by creating communal tensions and ignoring the plight of persecuted Hindus, especially those with roots in Bangladesh.
